"BLOOMINGTON -- Several city aldermen are worried a property tax increase could be coming this fall after hearing a report Monday that the city's total property values will remain unchanged for the coming year.

During the City of Bloomington Township Board meeting Monday, where aldermen serve as township trustees, Township Assessor Mike Ireland reported that the value of property that is the city's tax base likely will not increase in the coming year.

Later in the evening during the City Council's regular meeting, those financial concerns led four aldermen to vote against a plan that would allow city staff members to negotiate with contractors to keep the cost to build Gaelic Park, 3102 Cave Creek Road, at less than $1 million. The council approved the measure 5-4."
